Hardwood Flooring

Wood flooring is any product manufactured from timber and is designed for structural or aesthetic flooring. It is a lifetime investment. Wood floors protect the surface finish of the floor from moisture and scratches. It is more stable and elegant. Originally, wood floors were designed on the first floor of buildings and for the basement of residential residences. Over the years, with the advancement in architectural designs, wood as a flooring has been widely used in almost all floorings.

With hundreds of flooring options to choose from, generally there are three types of hardwood floors namely, solid hardwood floorings, engineered hardwood floors, acrylic impregnated wood floor.

Solid hardwood floorings – This type of flooring is made from a solid piece of wood. It gives the ability to customize the wood flooring used at home.

Engineered hardwood floors- This consists of layers of wood that are pressed and glued together. It can be constructed in two ways, multi-ply and three-ply. The way it is constructed would depend on the layer of plywood used.

Acrylic impregnated wood floor- Hard wood grains that are injected with acrylic. This creates very hard and durable floor. This type of flooring is used in restaurants, malls or high traffic areas.
Decorators tend to use color as a number one reason for theme in design. In traffic areas, colors of wood flooring matter. Darker colors tend to show traffic quicker than light colored flooring. Some darker color also makes the room look smaller and the décor lifeless. Whereas lighter or natural colored flooring like oak and maple gives an airy feeling. In addition to that it blends with almost all furniture and room décor.

Even if prices of floorings vary hardwood floors are not very expensive. In fact most business establishments and home owners prefer to use wood. Labor cost for wood floors differ in a matter of 50% to 70%. Installation and repair are often based on time and the type of material used.

Builders tend to stay on the same product that they have used before. It will be best to have a contract with the contractor that will do the installation and construction of the wood flooring. This is very important. So in case you are not fully satisfied with the results and there is accidental loophole in the renovation process you can ask for additional support without having to pay more.
